Türkiye Sees Rising Indian Arrivals Ahead of Peak Season

Türkiye is steadily strengthening its position in the Indian outbound market, with arrival numbers from India continuing to climb through 2026. Between January and August alone, the destination welcomed around 136,000 Indian visitors, reflecting growing interest across leisure, MICE, weddings, and premium experiential travel.

For B2B travel professionals, this trend signals clear commercial potential. With strong air connectivity, diverse product options, and increasing trade engagement, Türkiye is emerging as a destination that can be packaged for multiple client segments.

A Strategic FAM Trip to Build Market Confidence

To deepen trade awareness ahead of the peak travel season, the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), in partnership with the Cappadocia Area Presidency and Turkish Airlines, hosted a familiarisation trip for 30 members of the Indian travel trade from October 6 to 11, 2026.

The delegation represented a wide mix of the outbound ecosystem, including B2B travel agents, tour operators, DMCs, and OTAs from across India. The objective was simple but important: help trade partners experience İstanbul and Cappadocia first-hand so they can sell the destination with greater confidence and clarity.

The programme combined destination sightseeing with hotel and restaurant inspections.
Agents experienced key tourism highlights across two of Türkiye’s strongest leisure markets.
B2B meetings created direct channels for future collaboration with local partners.
The trip reinforced Türkiye’s positioning for both FIT and group travel segments.

İstanbul and Cappadocia Show Their Strongest Selling Points

The journey began in İstanbul, where the group experienced a Bosphorus cruise, explored the Sultanahmet Historical Peninsula, and visited iconic landmarks such as Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, and the Grand Bazaar. For Indian clients seeking culture, shopping, and classic city experiences, İstanbul continues to offer strong year-round appeal.

The delegation then travelled with Turkish Airlines to Kayseri before heading to Cappadocia, where the itinerary showcased some of the region’s most recognisable attractions. A hot air balloon ride, visits to the Göreme Open-Air Museum, Kaymaklı Underground City, Soğanlı Valley, and a pottery workshop in Avanos helped agents understand the destination’s mix of heritage, landscape, and soft adventure.

Why Cappadocia Matters for the Indian Market

Cappadocia is increasingly relevant for Indian travellers looking beyond standard sightseeing. Its visual appeal, unique terrain, luxury cave hotels, and experiential activities make it ideal for couples, families, incentive groups, and destination weddings.

The region’s culinary experiences and cultural depth also make it attractive for travellers who want more than a checklist itinerary. For B2B sellers, that means better scope to upsell experiential stays, private tours, and customised add-ons.

Iconic hot air balloons create strong demand for premium leisure packages.
The region’s scenery is highly attractive for weddings, social media content, and special celebrations.
Heritage attractions support culturally rich itineraries for Indian FIT and group travellers.
Local cuisine and boutique hospitality add value for higher-yield bookings.

B2B Meetings Strengthen Trade Partnerships

A dedicated B2B day was organised in Cappadocia on October 9, where Indian delegates met with local agencies and hotels following a presentation by TGA. The session enabled direct discussions on package design, distribution opportunities, and products tailored for Indian travellers.

The meeting was attended by Nevşehir Governor Hüseyin Kök, TGA Board Member Murat Yavuz, Cappadocia Area President Cem Aslanbay, and local mayors, underlining the importance Türkiye places on the Indian market.

Governor Kök highlighted Cappadocia’s appeal through its history, natural beauty, and cultural depth, while also pointing to its growing relevance for Bollywood shoots, Indian music videos, and destination weddings. That combination of visibility and familiarity can play a major role in influencing Indian traveller interest.

What This Means for Indian Travel Agents and Consolidators

For the Indian B2B travel ecosystem, Türkiye’s latest trade push offers several practical takeaways. The destination is no longer just a secondary Europe add-on; it is building its own identity as a standalone leisure and celebration market.

Air connectivity through Turkish Airlines, combined with a broad inventory of experiences and a rising number of Indian arrivals, gives agents enough product confidence to expand their Türkiye portfolios.

Strong direct connectivity supports smoother itinerary planning and better conversion.
Product variety allows agents to target honeymooners, families, corporates, and wedding planners.
Familiarisation trips improve destination knowledge, which helps close sales faster.
Direct B2B engagement with local partners can lead to more competitive packaging.

Türkiye’s Outlook for the Indian Market

Türkiye’s continued growth in Indian arrivals through 2026 shows that demand is expanding beyond headline destinations. As more Indian travellers seek culturally rich, visually striking, and value-driven international trips, Türkiye is well placed to benefit.

For travel agents, consolidators, and corporate travel planners, the message is clear: the destination is investing in trade relationships, and the market response is already visible. Those who align early with suppliers, route developments, and seasonal promotions may be best positioned to capture the next wave of demand.

CONCLUSION

Türkiye is actively converting trade engagement into market growth, and the latest FAM trip is a strong example of that strategy in action. For B2B travel professionals, the combination of better connectivity, richer product knowledge, and stronger supplier relationships creates a timely opportunity to build more compelling Türkiye itineraries for Indian clients.
