Dubai Tourist Visa Applications May Soon Be Available on Visit Dubai

Dubai is preparing to make tourism even more traveller-friendly by allowing visitors to apply for UAE tourist visas directly through the official Visit Dubai portal. The move is designed to simplify the process for international travellers and reduce dependence on travel agents, hotels, and airline visa desks.

Announced on November 1, 2026, the new digital service is expected to launch during November as part of Dubai’s wider push to bring tourism and government services onto one integrated platform.

For independent travellers, this is a big step. It means flight and hotel bookings, destination planning, and visa applications could soon happen in one place.

What Is Changing in Dubai’s Visa Process?

The new system is part of the Shared Digital Channels Initiative, a joint effort led by:

General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai)
Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET)
Digital Dubai

Instead of moving between separate websites and service providers, travellers will be able to access visa-related services through Visit Dubai, Dubai’s official tourism portal.

The platform is expected to support applications for:

Single-entry tourist visas
Multiple-entry tourist visas

Dubai has also indicated that more visa categories may be added later, expanding the platform’s usefulness for different types of visitors.

Do You Still Need a Travel Agent for a Dubai Visa?

Not necessarily. That is one of the most practical benefits of this update.

Until now, many tourists needing a pre-arranged UAE visa have relied on authorised travel agencies, tour operators, hotels, or airline partners such as Emirates and flydubai. The new Visit Dubai channel gives travellers another official route.

That said, Visit Dubai will act as the application channel, not the final decision-maker. GDRFA Dubai will still review applications and approve or reject visas.

This means the process is becoming more digital and centralised, but not completely automatic. Depending on the visa type, applicants may still need to upload supporting documents and meet specific eligibility rules.

Which Dubai Tourist Visas Are Expected?

Dubai currently offers several tourist visa options, and the new portal is expected to cover the most common short-stay categories.

30-day single-entry visa — stays of up to 30 days
60-day single-entry visa — stays of up to 60 days
30-day multiple-entry visa — subject to permitted stay conditions
60-day multiple-entry visa — subject to permitted stay conditions
Five-year multiple-entry visa — up to 90 days per visit, extendable by another 90 days, with a yearly maximum of 180 days

The five-year multiple-entry visa is a separate existing category and is not limited to the new Visit Dubai channel. Eligible applicants must also meet financial and insurance requirements, including maintaining at least US$4,000 in their bank account over the previous six months.

Dubai Visa Requirements for Indian Travellers

Indian passport holders applying for a Dubai tourist visa should expect standard documentation requirements. While the exact checklist may vary by visa type and nationality, the commonly requested documents include:

A passport valid for at least six months
A recent passport-size photo with a white background
A confirmed return or onward flight ticket
Valid UAE medical insurance
Hotel booking or accommodation details, where applicable

Additional documents may be requested depending on the traveller’s profile, nationality, and visa category.

What About Fees and Processing Time?

At the time of announcement, Dubai had not yet published a full fee structure or detailed processing conditions for the new Visit Dubai visa service.

Important details still waiting for confirmation include:

Exact launch date
Payment method
Service charges
Application tracking options

The current Visit Dubai visa guide mentions an indicative processing time of around 48 hours, but travellers should treat this only as a rough estimate until the new system is fully rolled out.

Why the Visit Dubai Portal Matters

The biggest advantage of this update is convenience.

Visit Dubai is already a popular platform for discovering attractions, events, hotels, and travel tips. By adding visa services, Dubai is creating a more seamless travel journey for visitors from planning to arrival.

For independent travellers especially, this could reduce the need to contact multiple agencies just to begin the visa process.

It may also improve transparency by giving applicants a more direct route through an official government tourism platform. Of course, travellers will still need to meet all visa conditions and pass GDRFA checks.

What Travellers Should Watch For

As the rollout approaches, travellers should pay close attention to the final application rules and fee details.

Check whether the new portal supports your nationality and visa category
Confirm document requirements before applying
Review processing times once the system goes live
Use only the official Visit Dubai website to avoid scams

Dubai’s direction is clear: it wants visitors to handle more of their travel experience through its own digital services, rather than fragmented third-party channels.

CONCLUSION

Dubai’s new Visit Dubai visa application option could be a meaningful upgrade for tourists, especially independent travellers who want a simpler and more official application path. While the move promises better convenience and transparency, key details such as fees, processing timelines, and final application steps still need to be confirmed. For now, travellers should keep an eye on the official rollout and prepare their documents in advance.
