KTO Roadshows Strengthen India–Korea Tourism Partnership

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), New Delhi Office, brought its 2026 roadshow to Ahmedabad on October 28 and Mumbai on November 4, creating fresh momentum for India–South Korea tourism trade cooperation.

The events connected Korean tourism stakeholders with Indian travel agents, tour operators, and industry associations to explore new business opportunities across leisure, MICE, education, culture, luxury, wellness, and weddings.

For B2B travel professionals, the roadshow offered a timely look at how Korea is positioning itself as a high-potential outbound destination for Indian travellers.

Why Korea Is Becoming a Stronger Sell for Indian Travel Agents

Korea is no longer just a niche destination for K-culture fans. It is now being packaged as a multi-segment market that can serve families, corporates, students, honeymooners, and premium travellers alike.

Indian demand is being supported by better air links, easier group movement, and strong destination storytelling focused on food, heritage, entertainment, and wellness.

K-culture, K-beauty, and Korean cuisine continue to drive curiosity among Indian travellers.
Regional destinations like Jeju are opening new itinerary possibilities beyond Seoul.
Group travel, MICE, and education-focused products are gaining visibility for trade partners.
Wedding and luxury travel segments are emerging as valuable niche opportunities.

Industry Leaders Highlight Growing Bilateral Potential

The roadshows were attended by key industry and diplomatic representatives, including delegates from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, OTOAI, SKAL, IRCTC, NIMA, ETOAI, and IKC Pune.

Speaking at the events, Himanshu Patil, President, OTOAI, underlined the strength of India–Korea ties and appreciated KTO’s efforts to build deeper tourism collaboration with the Indian travel trade.

KTO New Delhi Director Yoonmi Cho also noted the importance of India as a growing source market for South Korea, pointing to rising interest in the country’s cultural, scenic, and modern tourism experiences.

Support Programs That Matter to the Trade

One of the most practical takeaways from the roadshow was KTO’s support framework for the Indian market. These initiatives are designed to help agents and operators package Korea more confidently.

KTO highlighted the following programs for eligible trade partners and groups:

MICE Support Program 2026 for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions
Edu Tourism Support Program 2026–2027 for academic and student travel
Korea Group Visa facility to simplify group movement for Indian travellers

For travel businesses, these programs can reduce operational friction while improving itinerary value and competitiveness in the market.

Connectivity and Content Are Driving Demand

Air access remains a major factor in destination sales, and the roadshow reinforced that point with a Korean Air presentation on India–South Korea connectivity, including daily Delhi–Seoul service.

That kind of frequency is important for agents planning FIT, premium leisure, and corporate itineraries, especially when clients expect flexibility and convenience.

Another notable showcase was the upcoming Jeju Olle movie featuring Indian actress Anushka Sen. The project is part of KTO’s broader effort to use Indian entertainment and cultural familiarity to promote Jeju Island to a wider audience.

This approach can be especially effective for travel sellers because it turns destination marketing into something visual, emotional, and easy to position with clients.

What B2B Travel Professionals Should Take Away

Korea’s tourism strategy for India is becoming more segmented, more connected, and more trade-friendly. That creates room for Indian agents to build sharper products for different traveller profiles.

The roadshow also confirmed that Korea is actively investing in partnerships, which is a strong signal for wholesalers, consolidators, and corporate travel planners looking for reliable destination supply.

Use Korea as a year-round destination for leisure and cultural travel.
Build MICE and educational packages around KTO support initiatives.
Sell Jeju and regional Korea to differentiate from standard city itineraries.
Leverage improved air connectivity to strengthen booking confidence.

CONCLUSION

The KTO roadshows in Ahmedabad and Mumbai reflect a clear push to deepen India–Korea tourism ties through collaboration, connectivity, and targeted market support. For B2B travel professionals, the opportunity lies in packaging Korea beyond the obvious, using its mix of culture, food, wellness, education, and MICE appeal to win more diverse client segments.

As India’s outbound interest in Korea continues to grow, agents who understand the destination’s evolving product mix will be better placed to convert enquiries into bookings.
