Thai AirAsia to Resume Six India Routes from October

Thai AirAsia is set to restore six suspended India routes from Bangkok Don Mueang starting in late October and November 2026, adding fresh momentum to the airline’s fourth-quarter schedule. For B2B travel professionals, this is a meaningful network recovery that improves both point-to-point leisure demand and connecting traffic via Thailand.

The move comes as the carrier prepares for the year-end travel peak, when demand typically strengthens across Southeast Asia, India, and key leisure markets. It also reflects a wider industry pattern: airlines are reshaping capacity in response to seasonal demand, fuel volatility, and route performance.

What’s Returning on the India Network?

Thai AirAsia will bring back direct services from Don Mueang to six Indian cities across October and November 2026. These reinstated routes will expand options for travel sellers handling FIT, group, and corporate leisure bookings.

The resumed India routes are:

Gaya from October 25, 2026
Ahmedabad from November 6, 2026
Guwahati from November 16, 2026
Hyderabad from November 16, 2026
Lucknow from November 16, 2026
Jaipur from November 17, 2026

The airline had temporarily suspended these services earlier in 2026 as part of capacity adjustments during a softer mid-year period. Rising fuel costs and uneven demand continue to influence low-cost carrier schedules across Asia.

Why This Matters for Travel Agents and Consolidators

For agents selling Thailand packages, the route relaunch creates more booking flexibility for both leisure and VFR traffic. It also strengthens Bangkok’s role as a regional gateway for Indian travellers connecting onward within Thailand.

More direct access from tier-2 and tier-3 Indian cities to Bangkok
Better timing for year-end FIT, holiday, and family travel demand
Improved connectivity into AirAsia’s domestic Thailand network
Additional inventory opportunities for consolidators and online travel sellers

The reinstated services are especially important for India-origin travellers looking for affordable short-haul international options. Bangkok remains a strong draw for shopping, short breaks, medical travel, and multi-city Thailand itineraries.

Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X Expand Winter Capacity

Together, Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X will operate up to 53 direct routes to 46 cities during the October-December 2026 travel season. The combined network covers East Asia, ASEAN, South Asia, and Central Asia, showing a broader return of capacity for the winter schedule.

This network rebuild is not limited to India. It is part of a wider fourth-quarter push designed to capture stronger outbound and inbound travel flows across the region.

Japan and Regional Routes Also See Growth

Thai AirAsia X is also increasing frequency on key Japan routes, a sign that long-haul leisure travel remains one of the airline’s priority segments.

Planned Japan services include:

Up to 21 weekly flights to Tokyo
Up to 14 weekly flights to Osaka
Up to 7 weekly flights to Sapporo
4 weekly flights to Nagoya

Sapporo will resume from October 1, while Nagoya returns from October 2. The carrier will also operate four weekly flights to New Delhi and four weekly flights to Almaty, further widening its international footprint.

On the short-haul side, Thai AirAsia will restore Don Mueang-Kuala Lumpur and Phuket-Siem Reap from October 25. These routes matter for travellers planning regional multi-stop holidays and for agents packaging Thailand with Cambodia or Malaysia.

Market Impact for B2B Travel Stakeholders

The reinstatement of these routes is likely to support stronger sales across multiple segments. B2B partners should pay attention to pricing trends, inventory availability, and ancillary opportunities as schedules settle into the peak season.

From a distribution standpoint, the restored routes can help agents:

Reopen dormant Thailand itineraries from multiple Indian origin points
Build more competitive fares for leisure and visiting friends and relatives traffic
Offer improved options for travellers connecting to domestic Thailand destinations
Capture incremental demand during the October-to-December high season

AirAsia has long treated India as a strategic market, and this latest move confirms that smaller non-metro cities remain important in its growth plan. For the trade, that means broader reach beyond the major gateways and more room to design price-sensitive itineraries.

What B2B Travel Professionals Should Watch Next

The next few months may bring further schedule fine-tuning as airlines match capacity to demand. Travel sellers should monitor seat loads, fare movement, and any operational changes across the reinstated routes.

If demand builds as expected, the restored services could improve load factors on Thailand-bound leisure traffic and support stronger year-end performance across the trade.

KEY TAKEAWAY

Thai AirAsia’s resumption of six India routes from October 2026 is more than a seasonal schedule update. It signals renewed confidence in India-Thailand travel demand and gives B2B travel professionals more inventory, better city connectivity, and stronger opportunities for peak-season sales.
