IndiGo Goes Global: Daily Delhi–London Heathrow Flights Take Off This October

India’s Largest Airline Steps Into Long-Haul Territory

Starting October 26, 2025, IndiGo will operate daily direct flights from Delhi to London Heathrow, signaling a bold shift from regional low-cost travel to long-haul international service. This strategic leap marks the airline's biggest expansion into global markets since its inception.

The flights will be operated using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, offering improved range, comfort, and capacity—pushing IndiGo into a new competitive tier alongside full-service international carriers.

Flight Schedule: Delhi to London, Daily

IndiGo has announced a new daily flight schedule between Delhi and London Heathrow, pending final regulatory approvals. Flight 6E 1851 will depart from Delhi at 1:10 PM IST and arrive in London at 5:45 PM BST. The return flight, 6E 1852, will depart from London Heathrow at 8:15 PM BST and land in Delhi at 8:55 AM IST the following day.

This new route taps into one of the most lucrative and in-demand international corridors—India to the UK—offering a direct link at a time when global capacity is still rebounding.

Why This Move Is a Game-Changer for B2B Travel

For travel agents, consolidators, and corporate planners, this launch opens exciting opportunities:

  • Wider Inventory: A new, premium option for Delhi–London traffic, previously dominated by legacy carriers.

  • B787 Dreamliner Comfort: Designed for long-haul comfort with quieter cabins, better air quality, and mood lighting.

  • Operational Reliability: Daily frequency ensures flexible itineraries for both corporate and leisure travelers.

Most importantly, IndiGo is now not just a domestic low-cost giant—it’s officially in the long-haul game.

Premium Travel with IndiGoStretch Business Class

IndiGo has also launched its first business-class product, dubbed IndiGoStretch, bringing a premium cabin experience to select international sectors.

Key Rollout Dates:

  • August 9, 2025: Business Class on A321 routes — Delhi/Singapore & Mumbai/Singapore

  • August 30, 2025: Delhi–Dubai sector joins the list

  • September 3, 2025: Business class expands to Mumbai–Dubai

This is IndiGo’s first serious entry into the premium short-haul market, setting up strong competition against regional and Gulf-based full-service carriers.

A Strategic Global Expansion Plan

IndiGo’s London debut is just one piece of its broader international puzzle. Here's what’s coming up:

  • More Dreamliners: Five new 787-9s to join the fleet in FY25

  • Upcoming Routes: Launch plans include Copenhagen, Athens, Siem Reap, and new destinations in Central Asia

  • Fleet Expansion: Converted purchase rights into a firm order of 30 Airbus A350s, expanding its wide-body commitment to 60 aircraft

This positions IndiGo to become a dominant player in both eastbound and westbound travel from India.

Global Partnerships Strengthen Connectivity

To complement its fleet and network, IndiGo has forged new international partnerships to enhance global reach:

  • MoUs Signed with Delta, Air France–KLM, and Virgin Atlantic

  • Expanded Codeshares: Jetstar (Australia & New Zealand)

  • Deeper Ties: Strategic cooperation with Japan Airlines and KLM

These moves enable one-stop travel solutions for agents managing itineraries across Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific.

Industry Recognition & Growing Reach

IndiGo was recently awarded:

  • Best Airline in India and South Asia

  • Cleanest Airline in India and South Asia

With a fleet of 430+ aircraft and access to 90+ domestic and 40+ international cities, IndiGo is not just growing—it’s evolving into a major global connector.

CEO’s Vision for the Future

“These London flights mark more than just a new route—they mark a new era for IndiGo,” says CEO Pieter Elbers. “We’re going global, with the same operational strength that made us India’s favorite airline.”

For B2B stakeholders, this translates to richer inventories, better seat options, and stronger international alliances.

Takeaway for Travel Professionals

If you’re a travel agent, consolidator, or corporate travel planner handling long-haul bookings, IndiGo’s shift to wide-body, premium service is a strategic opportunity.

From better access and lower fares to new premium cabins and expanded codeshares, IndiGo is rewriting the rules of India’s outbound travel landscape.
