India Closes 4 Consular Service Centres in the UAE

Indian expatriates in the UAE will need to adjust their plans from October 22, 2026, after the Indian Embassy confirmed the closure of four Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs). Passport, visa, and attestation services will continue, but only through the remaining 12 centres across the country.

The move is administrative rather than service-related, which means the core consular support system remains in place. However, applicants who regularly used the affected locations may now have to travel farther to complete their paperwork.

What Is Changing?

According to the embassy’s announcement dated October 21, 2026, four centres will stop operating from October 22. The outsourced service model under Al Hind Tours & Travels will continue at other approved locations.

There is no indication of changes to the types of services available or the application fees. That said, the biggest impact for applicants is expected to be convenience, especially for residents living near the closed centres.

The 4 Centres That Are Closing

The following ICACs will discontinue services:

Musaffah: Capital Mall, Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi
Al Reem: Wafra Square Offices, Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi
Dubai Investment Park-I: Green Community Village, Dubai
Sharjah Al Majaz: Bell Rashid Towers, Al Majaz 1, Sharjah

If you previously relied on one of these locations, it is important to verify the nearest active centre before making the trip.

Where Services Will Continue in the UAE

Indian passport, visa, and attestation services will remain available at 12 operational ICACs across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Madinat Zayed, Ghayathi, Bur Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Kalba, and Khor Fakkan.

These centres will continue serving applicants from October 22 onward, ensuring that consular access remains available across all major regions of the UAE.

What Applicants Should Do Next

If you were planning to visit one of the closed centres, the safest step is to check the address of the nearest remaining ICAC before leaving home. This is especially important for applicants crossing emirate boundaries, where travel time can be significant.

Confirm the closest active centre before submitting your application.
Recheck timings and document requirements before visiting.
Allow extra travel time if your old centre has shut down.
Keep updated through official embassy announcements for any further changes.

For most applicants, the services themselves remain unchanged. The main difference is simply where those services are now being delivered.

CONCLUSION

The closure of four Indian Consular Application Centres in the UAE will affect convenience, not access. With 12 centres still operational, Indian nationals in the UAE can continue to apply for passport, visa, and attestation services, provided they visit the correct location from October 22, 2026 onward.
