Grand Hyatt The Red Sea Opens on Shura Island

Grand Hyatt The Red Sea has officially opened on Shura Island, becoming Hyatt’s second branded property at The Red Sea destination and its eighth hotel in Saudi Arabia. The launch marks another major step in the Kingdom’s fast-growing luxury tourism strategy.

Set within one of Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious coastal developments, the resort brings together large-scale hospitality, destination dining, wellness, and event space in a setting designed to celebrate the Red Sea’s natural beauty.

A Major Milestone for Hyatt in Saudi Arabia

The opening follows the debut of Miraval The Red Sea earlier this year, reinforcing Hyatt’s growing footprint in the country. With two distinct brands now operating in the destination, World of Hyatt members gain more options for luxury stays tailored to different travel styles.

According to Hyatt leadership, the launch reflects the company’s continued commitment to Saudi Arabia and its role in bringing the Shura Island vision to life.

Hyatt now has eight hotels operating in Saudi Arabia.
The Red Sea destination continues to expand as a global luxury tourism hub.
The resort adds new depth to both leisure and business travel offerings.

Design Inspired by the Red Sea’s Natural Landscape

Grand Hyatt The Red Sea was developed as part of Shura Island’s Coral Bloom masterplan by Foster + Partners. The architecture takes cues from coral reefs, sunlight, water reflections, and the organic textures of the surrounding environment.

One of the resort’s most distinctive features is its canopy structures, created using recycled fishing nets and designed to echo reef formations. These shaded outdoor areas blend sustainability with visual impact, giving the property a strong sense of place.

Inside, the resort’s 430 rooms, suites, and villas were designed by Muza Lab under the Coral Bloom concept, The Reef Flower Garden. Expect layered textures, natural shapes, and a palette inspired by the Red Sea itself.

Guest accommodations also include premium amenities such as:

Private balconies or terraces with sea, lagoon, or garden views
Spa-style bathrooms and luxury bath products
High-speed Wi-Fi and smart in-room technology
Selected categories with private pools

Dining Across Nine Venues

Food and beverage is one of the resort’s biggest drawcards. Grand Hyatt The Red Sea will feature nine dining and social venues, ranging from live-fire cuisine to global dishes and speciality concepts.

Embers is already open and centers on live-fire cooking, with a menu of meats and fresh seafood. Drift Pool Bar offers relaxed poolside drinks and light bites with views over the Red Sea.

Several additional venues are expected to open later, including The Amalfi Club, Café Maude, Havana Social, Charcoal Tandoor Fire Grill, and El Ta’koy. The resort will also welcome Akira Back Korean BBQ and 2am: dessert bar by Janice Wong, adding strong chef-led appeal.

Wellness, Pools, and Recreation

The resort is designed for guests who want both relaxation and activity. Its wellness and leisure facilities include five pools, a large spa, and a fully equipped fitness centre.

The 750-square-metre Ethereal Spa features 12 treatment rooms and VOYA products, while the 500-square-metre fitness centre supports training and wellbeing routines during longer stays.

There are also family-friendly experiences alongside adults-only spaces, making the property flexible for different types of travellers.

Meetings and Events on Shura Island

Beyond leisure, Grand Hyatt The Red Sea is positioned as a strong events venue. The resort offers 2,412 square metres of function space, supported by 1,039 square metres of pre-function areas.

Its event facilities include a 1,390-square-metre Grand Ballroom, a 683-square-metre Junior Ballroom, five conference rooms, and a private outdoor event space. The Grand Ballroom is the largest on Shura Island.

This makes the resort a valuable addition to the destination’s MICE offering, strengthening its ability to host conferences, incentive programmes, corporate events, and celebrations.

Why This Opening Matters

Grand Hyatt The Red Sea is more than a hotel opening. It reflects the broader transformation of Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector and the growing appeal of The Red Sea as a world-class destination.

With luxury accommodation, destination dining, wellness, and event infrastructure all in one place, the resort helps position Shura Island as a place where leisure and business travel can coexist at a premium level.

CONCLUSION

The opening of Grand Hyatt The Red Sea adds significant momentum to Hyatt’s expansion in Saudi Arabia and to the evolution of Shura Island. With its design-led approach, diverse dining, wellness facilities, and extensive event spaces, the resort is set to become one of the standout hospitality addresses in The Red Sea destination.
