FLY91 Begins Operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport

Regional carrier FLY91 has officially launched operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), adding direct connectivity to Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Goa, and Agatti. The debut marks another step in strengthening point-to-point regional air travel from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

For B2B travel professionals, this move is more than a route announcement. It reflects the growing role of NMIA as a scalable hub for domestic feeder traffic, short-haul leisure demand, and regional business mobility.

A Strong Start for Regional Connectivity

FLY91’s first arrival from Hyderabad was greeted with a water cannon salute, symbolizing the airline’s formal entry into NMIA operations. The carrier has also outlined an ambitious winter schedule with more than 350 weekly flights across 14 destinations.

That kind of network depth matters for travel agents and corporate planners looking to build flexible itineraries across tier-2 and tourism-driven destinations. It can also support improved load distribution across India’s busy western corridor.

Direct access to emerging leisure and regional markets
Better last-mile options for small business and SME travel
Additional inventory for agents serving Mumbai-linked itineraries
More route choices for travelers seeking non-metro connectivity

Why NMIA Matters for B2B Travel Distribution

Navi Mumbai International Airport is positioning itself as a multimodal gateway, with buses, taxis, autorickshaws, shuttles, and rail access designed to make travel more efficient and cost-effective. For agencies, that translates into easier client transfers and more attractive origin-destination combinations.

With the airport expanding transport links across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region, NMIA could become a practical alternative for clients who value time savings and smoother ground access.

The airport’s connectivity plan is especially relevant for corporate travel desks, consolidators, and OTA partners managing frequent movement across the region.

Ground Connectivity Adds Real Commercial Value

One of NMIA’s biggest strengths is its growing ground transport ecosystem. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has begun e-Shivai electric bus services, while private and municipal networks are also being expanded.

This improves airport usability for price-sensitive passengers and enhances the overall appeal of flying from NMIA instead of relying only on older, more congested access points.

e-Shivai electric buses now connect key city points and airport corridors
Chalo Bus serves major business and residential routes in Mumbai
NMMT links the airport with Panvel, Belapur, Nerul, Khandeshwar, and nearby nodes
Rail and road access strengthen transfer options for inbound and outbound passengers

What This Means for Travel Agents and Corporate Planners

For B2B stakeholders, the launch creates new selling opportunities in regional leisure, pilgrim travel, and short corporate hops. Destinations like Goa, Sindhudurg, and Agatti are especially useful for vacation packaging, while Jalgaon supports point-to-point movement within Maharashtra.

Travel partners should also watch how NMIA’s accessibility develops alongside metro and road upgrades. The airport already connects with Panvel, Targhar, and Bamandongri railway stations, while future metro integration could further improve passenger flow.

This kind of infrastructure expansion usually supports stronger air-side demand, broader fare options, and more competitive itinerary planning.

Key Commercial Takeaways

New regional airlift can improve client access to non-metro destinations
Better multimodal access may increase acceptance among price-sensitive travelers
Corporate travel programs can benefit from additional airport choice in the MMR
Early adoption helps agents position NMIA-based itineraries ahead of wider market competition

Winter Schedule Outlook

FLY91’s winter schedule, running from October 25, 2026 to March 27, 2027, will be an important demand test for the airline and the airport alike. If frequencies remain steady and ground access continues to improve, NMIA could quickly become a meaningful part of western India’s domestic travel network.

For travel businesses, the key is to monitor route performance, fare competitiveness, and transfer convenience. Those three factors will shape whether NMIA becomes a preferred departure point for repeat travelers.

CONCLUSION

FLY91’s launch from Navi Mumbai International Airport is a strong signal that regional aviation in western India is entering a new growth phase. With direct routes, a large winter schedule, and improving multimodal access, NMIA is emerging as a valuable option for B2B travel sellers, consolidators, and corporate travel teams.

Travel professionals who track these network shifts early can build more competitive itineraries, improve client convenience, and capture demand across both business and leisure segments.
