Air India Express Expands Gulf Connectivity from Thiruvananthapuram

Air India Express is set to strengthen Kerala’s Gulf travel network with two new international services from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TRV) starting October 27, 2026. The airline will launch direct flights to Riyadh and Bahrain, creating more point-to-point options for passengers traveling between southern India and the Middle East.

For B2B travel professionals, this update is more than a route announcement. It signals growing demand on India-Gulf sectors, especially for expatriate traffic, family visits, and corporate movement across the region.

Bookings for both services are now open, giving agents an early opportunity to package new schedules and compare fare options for clients.

New Riyadh Service: Three Weekly Flights

Air India Express will operate the Thiruvananthapuram–Riyadh route three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

This new direct link gives travelers a faster alternative to connecting itineraries and improves access to Saudi Arabia’s capital from Kerala.

The route also complements the airline’s existing daily Thiruvananthapuram–Dammam flights, which already serve a significant passenger base from Kerala working and residing in Saudi Arabia.

Direct access to Riyadh reduces reliance on one-stop routings
Adds flexibility for labor, family, and leisure travel demand
Strengthens Air India Express’s Saudi Arabia network from TRV
Offers agents more schedule choices for Gulf-bound clients

Bahrain Gets a New Direct Option

Alongside Riyadh, Air India Express will introduce a new Thiruvananthapuram–Bahrain service operating twice weekly on Thursday and Saturday.

This route adds capacity on a sector already served by Gulf Air’s daily operations, which means travelers now have more timetable and fare choices when booking between Kerala and Bahrain.

For agents, the new service creates an opportunity to diversify Gulf itineraries, especially for clients who prefer direct departures and competitive connection-free travel.

Twice-weekly direct service expands booking flexibility
Useful for expatriates traveling for short breaks and family visits
Supports fare comparison across multiple carriers
Adds resilience to the TRV–Bahrain market

Why This Matters for the B2B Travel Market

Thiruvananthapuram remains one of India’s most important southern gateways to the Gulf. The airport already handles more than 250 weekly air traffic movements to Gulf destinations, underlining the scale of demand in this corridor.

Its international network currently connects passengers to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Doha, Muscat, Kuwait, and Dammam. The addition of Riyadh and Bahrain further strengthens TRV’s position as a key outbound airport for Kerala-based international traffic.

For travel agencies, this means more routing options, stronger sales opportunities, and better control over client preferences for nonstop travel.

Commercial Impact for Agents and Corporate Travel Teams

These route additions are likely to benefit several travel segments. Expats visiting home, families traveling for holidays, and corporate passengers heading to Saudi Arabia or Bahrain may all prefer these direct flights for convenience and time savings.

In a B2B environment, the ability to compare schedules, manage fare classes, and advise on travel timing is critical. New routes like these often see early booking activity from repeat flyers and community traffic.

Better options for VFR and expatriate-heavy traffic
Potential uplift in early-bird bookings and fare-led conversions
More direct inventory for agents selling Gulf itineraries
Improved value proposition for TRV-based corporate travel planning

CONCLUSION

Air India Express’s new Riyadh and Bahrain services from Thiruvananthapuram reflect the continued strength of Kerala’s Gulf travel market. For B2B travel professionals, the launch opens up fresh selling opportunities, stronger route flexibility, and improved choices for clients seeking direct access to the Middle East.
