Thailand Unveils Ambitious Hotel Subsidy Program Offering Up to 15,000 Baht in Savings Per Traveler

A Bold New Chapter for Thai Tourism

Starting 1 July 2025, Thailand’s tourism industry is set to accelerate recovery with an aggressive hotel subsidy campaign designed to drive domestic travel and rejuvenate small businesses across the country.

The government’s “Tiew Thai Kon La Krueng” (Travel Thai Half-Half) program promises significant incentives for Thai citizens, offering up to 3,000 Baht per night in hotel subsidies and additional vouchers to encourage spending at local restaurants, shops, and attractions.

With more than 34,000 tourism operators registered and 500,000 travel entitlements ready, this initiative represents Thailand’s most ambitious domestic travel stimulus in years.

Surge in Industry Participation

Momentum has been building since registration opened.
As of 30 June 2025:
34,005 businesses joined the scheme
Over 6,400 verified operators are ready for bookings
Thousands more are completing verification in partnership with Krungthai Bank

Participating businesses range from hotels and homestays to spas, transport providers, eateries, and artisan shops. This broad inclusion is a deliberate strategy to extend benefits to secondary cities, rural areas, and small tourism operators often overlooked by big-budget travelers.

What Travelers and Businesses Can Expect

The subsidy program officially opens for public registration on 1 July 2025 at 8:00 AM via the Amazing Thailand app or the campaign website.

Here’s a snapshot of the benefits:

500 Baht per booking for local use

Eligible Thai citizens (18+) can claim up to 5 entitlements each, with 3 for major city stays and 2 for secondary destinations.

This structure promotes balanced travel demand, dispersing tourism revenue to lesser-known communities alongside top-tier destinations like Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Bangkok.

Program Timeline at a Glance

  • Public Registration: Opens 1 July 2025, 8:00 AM

  • Booking Deadline: Same day, by 11:00 PM

  • First Eligible Travel Date: 4 July 2025

  • Last Check-Out: 31 October 2025

Each booking becomes active three days after payment and must be completed by the October deadline.

Economic Impact: A Ripple Across Industries

The government anticipates the program will inject billions of Baht into local economies, revitalize small businesses, and create demand across multiple tourism sub-sectors.

The extra 500 Baht spending voucher per booking ensures direct revenue to local restaurants, SMEs, markets, and transport providers, stimulating a multiplier effect beyond accommodation alone.

For B2B travel planners, these incentives will drive increased inquiry volumes, shorter booking windows, and strong demand in emerging domestic destinations.

New Digital Verification and Booking System

To guarantee transparency and prevent fraud, all operators must pass biometric and financial verification through Krungthai Bank.

Approved businesses are listed on the campaign’s digital platforms, simplifying discovery and booking for travelers while enabling robust tracking of subsidy usage.

A Vision for Sustainable Recovery

The Tiew Thai Kon La Krueng initiative is more than just an economic stimulus—it's part of a strategic commitment to make travel more inclusive and sustainable.

For travel agents, DMCs, and corporate planners, this program offers a rare opportunity to:

Introduce domestic travel packages to Thai clients
Promote off-season and midweek stays
Support authentic, community-based tourism experiences

Conclusion: A Timely Boost for Thai Tourism Stakeholders

As Thailand prepares for high season, this subsidy program is poised to transform travel dynamics.

With substantial discounts, streamlined digital booking, and a strong push to promote diverse destinations, 2025 could be a turning point for domestic tourism and local business recovery.
