India Extends Tourist e-Visa Application to 120 Days

India has quietly rolled out a traveller-friendly update to its tourist e-Visa framework—one that directly benefits travel agents, tour operators, and corporate travel planners managing forward bookings.

From mid-December 2025, international travellers can now apply for an Indian tourist e-Visa up to 120 days in advance, easing long-standing planning constraints.

🔹 A Major Change in e-Visa Application Timelines

Earlier, the 30-day tourist e-Visa allowed applications only within 30 days of arrival.
This limited advance flight sales, early hotel confirmations, and group tour planning.

What’s new now?

  • Travellers can select an arrival date up to 120 days (4 months) ahead

  • Applies to e-Visas approved on or after 18 December 2025

  • Visa validity and stay conditions remain unchanged

For B2B sellers, this unlocks better control over long-lead itineraries and seasonal inventory.

🔹 No Change to Stay Rules — Only Better Flexibility

Despite the longer application window, the visa structure remains the same:

  • 30-day tourist e-Visa

  • Single stay within approved conditions

  • No automatic extension of duration

This update strictly improves timing, not visa privileges—important clarity for client communication.

🔹 Option for Longer Stays: 1-Year Tourist e-Visa

For clients planning extended visits, the 1-year tourist e-Visa continues to be available.

Key points travel agents should note:

  • Maximum 90 days stay per visit

  • Can also be applied for within the 120-day window

  • Ideal for long vacations, family visits, or slow travel programs

This provides a strong upsell opportunity for premium and leisure-plus segments.

🔹 First Land Border Entry Added for e-Visa Holders

In another significant development, India has expanded entry options for e-Visa travellers.

Previously:

  • First entry permitted only via air or sea ports

Now:

  • Raxaul (India–Nepal border) is officially approved as the first land entry point for e-Visa holders

This is particularly relevant for:

  • Nepal-India combined itineraries

  • Overland South Asia travel circuits

  • Backpacker and cultural tourism routes

🔹 Why This Matters for B2B Travel Professionals

These changes directly improve operational efficiency:

  • ✔️ Easier advance flight & hotel bookings

  • ✔️ Reduced last-minute visa risks

  • ✔️ Better itinerary structuring for long-haul clients

  • ✔️ New routing flexibility via Nepal corridors

For consolidators and corporate planners, this also supports smoother group movement planning.

✈️ B2B Takeaway

India’s extended e-Visa application window is a quiet but powerful upgrade.
It aligns visa policy with real-world travel planning cycles—making India more accessible, predictable, and sellable in global markets.
