Air India Scoot Partnership Unlocks 70+ Asia Destinations

In a major boost to Asia-Pacific connectivity, Air India has entered a new interline partnership with Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines — opening access to more than 70 destinations across Southeast Asia, North Asia, and Australia via Singapore. This development strengthens Air India’s distribution capabilities and delivers fresh revenue opportunities for travel agents, consolidators, and corporate travel managers.

A New Chapter in Regional Connectivity

With this interline agreement, Air India passengers can now enjoy simplified connections through Singapore to a wide range of Scoot-operated destinations. The expanded network covers over 70 cities in 18 countries, many of which were previously not directly accessible via Air India’s partnerships.

Key new destinations now reachable via Scoot's network include:

  • China: Macau SAR

  • Indonesia: Padang, Labuan Bajo

  • Malaysia: Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Langkawi, Ipoh, Kuantan, Miri, Sibu, Malacca, Kota Bharu

  • Philippines: Davao, Iloilo City

  • Thailand: Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai

  • Vietnam: Nha Trang, Phu Quoc

These additions include emerging cities, leisure-focused beach spots, and secondary markets that travel professionals can leverage for differentiated product offerings and upsell opportunities.

Seamless Transfers Through Singapore

A major advantage of this tie-up is the improved passenger experience that comes with streamlined connections:

  • Single-ticket itineraries: Travel agents can issue one ticket for combined Air India and Scoot sectors, making bookings simpler for clients.

  • Inter-Airline Through Check-In (IATCI): Agents can offer clients boarding passes at the origin for all segments, reducing stress at transfer points.

  • Checked baggage to final destination (subject to local rules) enhances convenience — a significant selling point for corporate travellers.

For B2B partners focused on smooth travel logistics, this means fewer customer complaints and stronger satisfaction rates on long-haul and multi-city itineraries.

Why This Matters for the Travel Trade

Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nipun Aggarwal, emphasised that this partnership responds to growing demand for intra-Asia travel and gives Indian travellers easier access to previously under-served cities across the region.

From a trade perspective:

  • Expanded product portfolio: Agents can now market destinations like Koh Samui, Nha Trang, and Kuching — ideal for incentive travel and niche group tours.

  • Enhanced competitiveness: Corporate travel planners gain access to smoother routing options that were once complicated to book.

  • Flexible sales channels: The new itineraries will be available via Air India’s website, mobile app, and GDS/travel agent platforms, broadening distribution reach.

Air India’s Singapore Hub: A Key Growth Engine

Air India already maintains a robust schedule to Singapore, including 49 weekly flights from major Indian gateways like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai — enhancing the practical viability of onward connections with Scoot.

Importantly, Air India’s existing codeshare with Singapore Airlines — which provides access to more than 60 destinations globally — now works in tandem with the Scoot partnership, further strengthening network breadth for corporate and leisure sales.

Conclusion: What This Means for Your Business

For B2B travel professionals, this partnership is more than just expanded connectivity — it’s a strategic tool to enrich your product mix, improve client experience, and drive revenue through differentiated itineraries across Asia-Pacific.

By leveraging the Air India–Scoot interline pact, travel agents and planners can deliver seamless journeys, unlock new markets, and stay ahead in an increasingly competitive travel landscape.
