Air India Boosts Connectivity to Kathmandu, Colombo & Bangkok with 7,000+ Weekly Seats

Air India Expands Regional Routes Amid Surging Demand

Starting July 7, 2025, Air India will significantly increase flight frequencies on key South and Southeast Asian routes in response to rising passenger demand. The move enhances regional connectivity and offers greater flexibility for both leisure and business travellers.

New Flight Frequencies: What’s Changing?

Here’s a breakdown of the expanded services:

  • Delhi–Kathmandu: Now 6 flights daily, rising from 35 to 42 weekly flights

  • Delhi–Colombo: Frequency doubled from 7 to 14 weekly flights

  • Mumbai–Bangkok: Now 3 daily flights, expanding from 13 to 18 weekly flights

With these enhancements, Air India will operate:

  • 42 weekly flights to Kathmandu

  • 28 weekly flights to Colombo

  • 46 weekly flights to Bangkok

Over 7,000 Weekly Seats Added

The additional capacity adds over 7,000 weekly seats across these three high-demand sectors. Most of these flights will be served by Air India’s top-tier narrow-body aircraft with a three-class configuration, including:

  • Business Class

  • Premium Economy

  • Economy Class

This upgrade ensures a consistent premium experience across short-haul international routes.

Strategic Benefits for B2B Travel Professionals

For Indian B2B travel agents, consolidators, and corporate planners, this expansion unlocks:

  • Greater seat availability during peak travel months

  • Seamless one-stop international connections via Delhi and Mumbai hubs

  • Upselling opportunities through Premium Economy offerings

  • Enhanced group travel and MICE planning capabilities

One-Stop Global Connectivity

These flights provide strategic feeder connectivity to and from key long-haul destinations, including:

  • North America

  • Europe

  • Far East Asia

With increased frequency and better flight timings, travellers can now enjoy faster layovers and smoother global itineraries.

Final Takeaway: More Options, Better Service, Strategic Edge

Air India’s July 2025 expansion reflects not just growing regional demand but a broader transformation in India’s international aviation posture. For B2B travel stakeholders, this opens new avenues for routing flexibility, client satisfaction, and improved planning margins.
